Compensatory Education
The Compensatory Education Program is designed specifically for persons diagnosed with mental retardation or who have suffered traumatic brain injury. The goal of the program is to help the individual become as independent and self-directed as possible through acquiring basic and life skills needed to function successfully in daily living at home and in the community.
The program is located on the main campus in Smithfield every Monday through Friday and at the JCC Cleveland Center every Monday through Thursday. Additional classes are offered at Johnston County Industries for JCI clients.
The Compensatory Education program is free, and is available to adults 18 or older. Students are placement tested upon entry.
