Johnston Community College has been selected to participate in the “Communities Take Root” program that will give fruit trees for orchards to 20 groups across the U.S. to help strengthen their communities. Please help JCC be one of those groups.
Last year, JCC’s Plant a Row for the Hungry project in the Arboretum provided 800 pounds of fresh food to feed the hungry in our community. That food grown on our campus improved the nutrition in 3,200 meals. We still have a long way to go to serve all the folks who have trouble putting enough food on their tables, but you can help by simply voting for JCC.
From April through August, the five communities with the highest vote totals in each round will be announced as winner.
At the close of each round, Communities Take Root will award an orchard to the five (5) communities that have the most votes at that time. The first round ends May 31 so let's start voting today for JCC to receive an orchard in the first round.
You may vote one time per day, and you may vote every day. Remember: We need you to vote daily in order for JCC to win an orchard.
We also need you to help spread the word so that others vote for us, too. Please share this web page with as many people as you can so they vote early and so that they vote often. Be sure to ask all the folks you know who are also interested in improving nutrition, gardening for fun, helping others, improving our community, and/or supporting the college. We need their votes, too.
