Getting Started
Find out where you're going by using the map of campus. The directory will provide you with telephone numbers and e-mail addresses for faculty and staff.
Don't forget to get a student ID from the Library in the Tart Building and a parking permit from the information desk in the Wilson Building.
Academics
As a new student at JCC, you'll want to make sure you have a successful academic career. In addition to academic policies and program information, you will need to know about:
- the academic calendars
- academic policies and procedures (such as attendance, grades and GPA, withdrawal, etc.)
- course information
- the exam schedule
- academic support services
- transfer information

You will also want to take advantage of the wonderful collection of print and electronic resources that can be found in the Library. The staff are happy to help you - just ask!
Orientation at JCC is offered as ACA 111 (College Student Success) or ACA 115 (Success and Study Skills). These required courses are designed to help you with your transition to college life and should be taken your first semester.
The Distance Learning section provides information on the different kinds of distance courses offered and how to be successful when you take these classes.
Student Life
Student life at JCC is many things to our diverse student body. You'll want to know about the options you have outside of the classroom. At JCC, you:
- get a student e-mail account
- have services available to you, such as counseling, disability services, career and job placement, and Student Support Services
- can buy your books and supplies at the College Bookstore
- can join student clubs and organizations and participate in recreational activities
- can get help finding a job once you've completed your program

Performing Arts events are regularly held on campus in the Paul A. Johnston Auditorium. In addition to the Performing Arts Concert Series, the Country Music Showcase offers six shows a year and holds open auditions once a year.
Do you have children? The Johnston Community College Child Development Center is open to the public, but placement preference may be given to students at the College.
