The thought of disciplining children can make many parents cringe, but one of the most important things to realize is that parenting discipline doesn't have to be negative. In fact, the right discipline approach can create a secure environment where your children feel safe and there are a variety of positive discipline techniques that have proven to be highly effective.
One such discipline approach is Conscious Discipline®, a positive, research-based, and highly effective method of discipline that works not only with infants, toddlers, and young children, but those who are much older. (In fact, we help medical professionals effectively apply Conscious Discipline in adult hospital and nursing home settings, improving the patient experience immeasurably.)
Meet Kim Hughes, founder Conscious Connections founder and principal consultant that helps teachers, school administrators, child care providers, and parents harness positive discipline techniques and cutting-edge early childhood research to create rewarding relationships and positive learning environments for children from birth to fifth grade.
Kim has worked with educators, thought leaders, and elected officials for 25 years and with children in the classroom for over three decades. President Bill Clinton visited her classroom, and she has worked with three state governors to date.
She developed curriculum for Sesame Street’s Global Grover Project and PBS' Danger Ranger Series, and has delivered customized training and coaching services to clients in public and private school settings, multiple chapters of the Association for the Education of Young Children (AEYC), Head Start groups, colleges and universities, and education foundations.
