Professional Experience
Joy Callahan joined Johnston Community College in March 1999 as the Director of Industry Training. In 2005, she became the Department Chair of Business & Industry and also the Director of the Workforce Development Center and in 2011 became the Dean of Economic and Workforce Development. In July of 2018 she became the Dean of Workforce Development and Advanced Technologies
Joy was instrumental in the design and construction of the Johnston County Workforce Development Center in Clayton, She also partnered with Caterpillar, Johnston County and Wake County Public Schools to develop the Caterpillar pre-apprenticeship program and is currently working with several industries in Johnston County to form an apprenticeship consortium. In 2004, she led a group of volunteers to begin Junior Leadership Johnston County, developing high school juniors in leadership opportunities throughout the County.
