Introduction to Residential Construction

Have you thought about going into residential construction? Want to contract or build your own house? Learn from the ground up how to build a house. This weekend seminar is designed to give those individuals without construction experience who are thinking about residential construction or building their own house an idea of the scope of the home building project. This class is the place to start if you are interested in becoming a residential contractor. The class is a great pre-requisite to the Pre-License Residential Contractors Class if you have no experience in home construction. This is not a pre-licensing class. The class will

Pre-Licensing Training for N.C. Home Inspectors

This course is designed to assist applicants for a NC Home Inspectors License to prepare for the required written examination.
Topics covered include: licensing laws, regulations, professional conduct and ethics, and report preparation; as well as, interior and
exterior structures, roof structures; and electrical, HVAC, and plumbing systems. NOTE: The North Carolina Home Inspector Licensure Board requires individuals to meet specific experience and/or education requirements to be approved to take the Home Inspector License examination. Real Estate Post Licensing Selected Topics

This course is one of the three 30 hour courses designed to assist the provisional broker to meet the 90-hour post-licensing education requirement set by the NC Real Estate Commission. Topics include a review of agency relationships in real estate sales transactions and a real estate agent’s legal duties to clients and customers, a step-by-step review and discussion of the functions and responsibilities of a real estate agent when working with residential sellers and buyers, a review of issues associated with agent compensation and agents changing firms, and a review of license status and education issues. Real Estate Pre License Course

This 80 hour course provides the required training for becoming a salesperson/broker in North Carolina. This class is approved by the NC Real Estate Commission for licensure. Students must pass a required exam with 80% to successfully complete the course. (Prepaid registration is required)

Pre-requisite for enrollment:
Participants will be required to obtain a Career Readiness Certificate to be eligible to enroll in the course. This requirement can be completed by taking the three ACT WorkKeys Assessment tests for the three subject areas listed below. A fee of $10.00 per assessment is due at the time of testing. This prerequisite will help prepare you for the successful completion of the state Real Estate Licensing examination. If additional study is needed, a program of pre and post training is available from Johnston Community College’s Continuing Education Division. It is our desire that all students have successful completion of their goals. Pre-test training fees are standard Continuing Education fees based on hours of instruction.

Work Zone Flagger Training 4 Hour Course

Controlling traffic through work areas is one of the most important – and dangerous- operations in construction maintenance.   This course is a comprehensive skill-building session that meets federal industry guidelines: the Manual on Uniform Traffic control Devices guidelines and the ANSI standard ISEA-107-1999. The Office of Highway Safety, the Federal Highway Administration and several state Departments of Transportation have reviewed this program. This course also complies with the North Carolina Department of Transportation requirements. 
 This course is a must for the novice construction work zone flaggers in both one-and-two-person flagging operations. Experienced flaggers can attend this course as a refresher. Pre-registration is required. Contact Jackie Seare at 209-2595 for more information.
