THE APPLICATION PROCESS TO BECOME A 2014-15 STUDENT AMBASSADOR IS OPEN JANUARY 28 - AND WILL CLOSE APRIL 1, 2014
Purpose:Ambassadors are an exceptional group of students selected to represent the College at special events on campus and in the community.
For more than 10 years the College Foundation at Johnston Community College has funded up to fifteen annual scholarships for students who have shown potential to be leaders on campus. The Student Ambassadors at JCC are involved in a variety of activities both on campus and in the community. Some of these activities include community service such as Habitat for Humanity, assisting with campus registration, graduation ceremonies, and various fund-raisers for the College.
Recipients network and develop relationships with faculty, staff, and fellow students that last a lifetime. Each Student Ambassador commits him or herself to one full year of service to JCC and attends a summer training session to build teamwork, communication, and character building skills.

As a Student Ambassador, you will be involved in many activities that will help you grow as an individual and as a professional.

Up to fifteen students, reflecting the diversity of the student population and a variety of career goals and experiences, will be selected to represent the College as a Student Ambassador. Academic performance, leadership potential, and communication skills are all factors in the selection process as well as commitment to service. Selected students will serve for one year. For a student's service to the College, the student will receive paid tuition, activity and technology fees for Fall and Spring (not to exceed the in-state tuition rates), a jacket, polo shirt, and nametag.
Once selected, the Ambassador must complete a leadership course that includes public speaking, motivational techniques, communication skills, and training on the history of and programs at Johnston Community College.
As an Ambassador, service duties may include giving campus tours; hosting campus activities; recruiting students; speaking to community groups and agencies; assisting with Foundation events, registration, graduation, and orientations; helping with student activities; and welcoming various groups to campus.
The Ambassador Program is supervised by Kate Leahy, Coordinator of Alumni and Annual Programs in the JCC Foundation Office.
