“The vision to serve a diverse campus and cultivate relationships within the community while promoting good will and integrity for everyone.”
2013-2014 Academic Year
The deadline for applications is April 1, 2013
Purpose:Ambassadors are an honorary group of students selected to represent the college at special events on campus and in the community.
For more than 10 years the College Foundation at Johnston Community College has funded fifteen annual scholarships to students who have shown potential to be leaders on campus. The Student Ambassadors at JCC are involved in a variety of activities both on campus and in the community. Some of these activities include community service such as Habitat For Humanity, assisting with on campus registration, graduation ceremonies and various fund raisers for the college. The fifteen auspicious recipients network and acquire relationships with faculty, staff and fellow students that last a lifetime. Each Student Ambassador commits themselves to one full year of service to JCC and attends a summer training session to help with teamwork, communication and character building.

Here at JCC, we are involved in many activities that will help you grow as an individual and as a professional. We all need those extra resources and advantages to list on our resume.
You can earn and learn those things right here at Johnston Community College by becoming a Student Ambassador. The application process is rigorous but the rewards far outweigh any sacrifice.
We encourage you to apply for this prestigious opportunity to be the face of the college!
A maximum of fifteen students representing the diversity of the college student population and a variety of career goals and experience will be selected to represent the college. Academic performance, leadership potential and communication skills are all factors in the selection process. These students will serve one year. For his/her service to the college, the student will receive free tuition, activity and technology fees for Fall and Spring (not to exceed the in-state tuition rates), a jacket, polo shirt, and a nametag.
Once selected, the Ambassador must complete a honors/leadership course that will include public speaking, motivational techniques, communication skills, and training on the history and programs of Johnston Community College.
Services provided by the Ambassadors may include: giving campus tours, hosting campus activities, recruiting students, speaking to community groups and agencies, assisting with registration, graduation and orientations, assisting with student activities, and welcoming groups to the campus.
The Ambassadors are administered and supervised by Thomas Dean, Advisor to Ambassadors in the Student Services Office at JCC.
