Student Support Services


Student Support Services (SSS) is a federally funded program designed to help first-generation, low-income, and disabled students find success in college. Students benefit from academic support, progress monitoring, success workshops and academic, transfer, and career advising.

TRiO Students

Impressive Stats:

  • As of August 2012, 79% of SSS students had returned to JCC for another semester, graduated from JCC, and/or transferred to a four-year college or university
  • 89.5% of SSS students have a GPA of 2.0 or better
  • The average GPA of a participant in SSS is 2.593!
  • SSS has 5 required services: Advising, Financial/Economic Literacy, Assistance applying for Federal Student Aid, Assistance with Transferring/Financial Aid, and Tutoring
  • SSS Objectives:
    • 60% of student served by SSS must persist from one academic year to the next by returning to JCC, graduating, and/or transferring to a 4-year college or university.
    • 35% of new SSS students served each year will graduate with an Associate Degree or Certificate within four years.
    • 30% of new SSS students served each year will transfer with an Associate Degree or Certificate within four years.

 

*Student Support Services is funded to serve 160 students.
