Student Support Services (SSS), also known as TRiO, is a federally funded program designed to help first-generation, low-income, and disabled students find success in college.
Students benefit from academic support, progress monitoring, success workshops and academic, transfer and career advising.

We focus on the STRENGTHS of students as they progress towards their goals.

Impressive Stats:

  • The Average Cumulative GPA for Fall 2013 semester was 2.916
  • 50% of participants achieved a 2.916 or better cumulative GPA as of December 2013

  • SSS has 5 required services: Advising, Financial/Economic Literacy, Assistance applying for Federal Student Aid, Assistance with Transferring/Financial Aid, and Tutoring
  • SSS Objectives:
    • 60% of students served by SSS must persist from one academic year to the next by returning to JCC, graduating, and/or transferring to a 4-year college or university.
    • 35% of new SSS students served each year will graduate with an Associate Degree or Certificate within four years.
    • 30% of new SSS students served each year will transfer with an Associate Degree or Certificate within four years.

 

*Student Support Services is funded to serve 160 students.
