Face Coverings Required

In light of the recent spikes in COVID-19 cases and the highly contagious nature of new variants, Johnston Community College requires that face coverings be worn indoors until further notice.

  • Effective August 4, 2021, face coverings are now required in all indoor spaces on campus for students, faculty, staff, and visitors, regardless of vaccination status, unless:

    • you are alone in a private, enclosed area, or

    • you are actively eating or drinking.

    • Vaccinated faculty may remove their masks while teaching as long as a safe physical distance is maintained.

    • Face coverings are not required in outdoor spaces but are encouraged, especially in large crowds.

  • As always, we recommend that students, faculty, staff, and visitors practice social distancing and frequent hand washing.

  • For the safety of our students, employees, and visitors, we insist that you do not come to campus if you are sick or have reason to believe you have been exposed to someone with COVID-19.

JCC’s COVID-19 Emergency Response Team is taking a layered approach with its established safety protocols while striving to maintain an individual’s right to privacy.  We appreciate your willingness and assistance in helping us protect our campus community.  If you have not yet been vaccinated, we strongly encourage you to do so, as this is the primary method to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
