Student Complaint Procedures

Johnston Community College desires to resolve student complaints in an expeditious and fair manner. Students who desire to resolve a grievance should follow the College's Student Grievance Procedure which is outlined in the College Catalog. Please try to exhaust all possible avenues of complaint resolution before going outside of the college. For assistance with the grievance procedure, please contact the Vice President of Student Services.

If the complaint has not been resolved after all internal college procedures have been exhausted, there is a process by which students can initiate complaints against a post-secondary institution offering programs in the state of North Carolina. The University of North Carolina General Administration, acting as the clearinghouse for complaints concerning post-secondary institutions within the state of North Carolina, will forward the complaint to the North Carolina Community College System. To submit a complaint regarding Johnston Community College, visit the University of North Carolina System Office website or email to studentcomplaint@northcarolina.edu.

For Out-of-State Online Students

Johnston Community College students residing outside the state of North Carolina who desire to resolve a grievance are encouraged to follow the college's internal grievance procedure outlined in the college catalog. If an issue cannot be resolved internally, a complaint may be filed with the appropriate state agency for handling complaints or with Johnston Community College's accrediting agency.
