Automotive Classes
Important information for all automotive classes:
- Late students may not be admitted to class.
- Successful completion requires 100% class attendance and satisfactory class participation.
- Each student must be employed at an inspection station and possess a valid N.C. driver's license.
- Each student must provide their own pair of safety glasses.
- The Action Form for Inspector /Mechanic Certification/Renewal (LT-310 form) must be signed by owner, partner, or officer of the inspection station and must be brought to class the first night. LT-310 form is available online

Automotive Safety Inspection
This course is designed to meet the training and licensing requirements (initial and/or renewal) for the Vehicle Safety Inspection Program administered by the N.C. Division of Motor Vehicles, License, and Theft Bureau. Upon completion, a student will understand the rules, regulations, and procedures for conducting a vehicle safety inspection; be able to inspect a vehicle properly; and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam.

On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Emissions Inspection
This course is designed to meet the training and licensing requirements (initial and/or renewal) for the On-Board Diagnostic (OBD) Emissions Inspection Program administered by the NC Division of Motor Vehicles, License, and Theft Bureau. Upon completion, a student will understand the rules, regulations, and procedures for conducting an OBD emissions inspection; be able to inspect a vehicle properly; and be prepared to sit for the state certification exam.

- Register online, using Self-Service.
- Scroll down - Click 'Continuing Education Instant Enrollment'
- In Course Code box, type 'Electrical' (click Search at the bottom of the page)
- Click 'Select' button next to the class you wish to attend,
- Then Add Section (class will be added to cart)
- Click 'Next' and follow prompts from there to complete registration and make payment .
- Please be advised, payment must be made using a credit card when registering through Continuing Education Instant Enrollment.
* If you are having trouble with online registration, please PRINT the Continuing Education (CE) Registration Form (PDF) and email the completed form to ceregistrar@johnstoncc.edu
If paying for the class by mail:
- Print the CE Registration Form (PDF).Complete ALL highlighted sections.
- Submit with payment to the mailing address listed on the top of the registration form.
- This method may be slower, and your requested class may not be available when the form arrives.
