Johnston Community College students or high school students can complete the certificate in one semester

Do you have an idea you want to turn into a business? Or does the thought of learning more about pursuing your ideas interest you? If so, the new Entrepreneur Certificate from Johnston Community College might be for you.

The certificate consists of five college classes that can be taken completely online and in one semester, either Fall or Spring. The certificate is designed to provide the fundamentals needed to grow your business ideas and to go after them with confidence.

The Entrepreneurship Certificate will provide foundational knowledge in the key areas most important to new businesses: Entrepreneurship, Social Media Marketing, Accounting, and Business Analytics.

According to TSheets, a web-based and mobile time tracking and employee scheduling app, only 9% of entrepreneurs have a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Also, according to a recent Nielsen study, more than half the people ages 15 to 21 surveyed want to start their own business.

Classes will be taught by instructor, Matthew Gargano, who says, “This certificate is a game-changer, as it can help individuals create, see, and open doors of fresh opportunities by equipping them with new skills, new mindsets, and new beginnings.”

Prior business knowledge or business ideas are not necessary to be successful in the courses. High school students wishing to obtain the certificate can speak with an academic advisor for more information.
