JoCo Commissioners Promise Program Assists 2022 High School Graduates with TuitionPublished: July 6, 2022
Johnston County Commissioners approved the use of $250,000 to assist with college tuition at JCC for 2022 grads.
Johnston Community College and the County Commissioners are pleased to announce the formation of the The JoCo Commissioners Promise Program which will cover the cost of tuition for 2022 high school graduates during the 2022-23 school year. The county approved the use of $250,000 to help fund the initiative.
The JoCo Commissioners Promise Program will bridge the gap for any tuition not covered by the Longleaf Commitment grant, federal Pell grants or other state funds. Students will only be responsible for the costs of textbooks, supplies, and program-specific fees.
“We would like to thank the Johnston County commissioners for their commitment to JCC. Investments in our college are investments in the local economy,” said Dr. Kenneth A. Boham, interim president of JCC.
“We are grateful for our partnership with this community. This promise program is essential to positioning the college’s service,” Dr. Boham added.
"The Board of Commissioners places a great value on its investment in education,” says Johnston County Commissioners Chairman, Butch Lawter.
“By supporting this promise program, we hope to create a clearer path for graduating seniors to enter into the local workforce as we bolster our commitment to Johnston Community College," Lawter adds.
