Typical Schedule for a Massage Therapy Student

Daytime Classes Fall Semester:

Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm
Spring Semester Monday-Thursday 10am-4pm & Tuesday 5-8pm

Evening Classes:

Massage I & II Monday-Friday 5-9pm

Program Description

Both the Therapeutic Massage Curriculum and Continuing Education Options prepare graduates to work in direct client care settings providing manipulation/massage of the soft tissue structures of the body to prevent and alleviate pain, discomfort, muscle spasm, and stress, and to promote health and wellness.

Program Content

Courses include content in normal human anatomy and physiology, therapeutic massage, ethical/legal issues, business practices, and psychology.  Students should be able to perform entry level therapeutic massage with various populations throughout the lifespan.

Employment Opportunities

Employment include health care facilities, chiropractors' offices, spas/health/sports clubs, and private practice.  Graduates may be eligible to take the Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam.

JCC's Therapeutic Massage Program is an accepted school for licensure in North Carolina. With successful completion of our coursework and a PASS score on the MBLEX (Massage and Bodywork Licensing Exam), our students are eligible to apply for their NC license in Massage and Bodywork Therapy. JCC's 2020 MBLEX First Time Pass Rate was 80%.

The Student Massage Clinic provides students the educational opportunity of a "virtual" Spa & Wellness Clinic, and allows the community to experience the incredible benefits of therapeutic massage.

Students must pass all program competencies before participating in the massage clinic.
