Academic Skills Center
The Academic Skills Center, located on the first floor of the Learning Resource Center, is a lively, student-centered learning environment open to all Johnston Community College students regardless of their program of study or academic level. Students seeking academic support have the option to gain academic support by visiting the Academic Skills Center during regular operating hours. Academic assistance is also available virtually via Zoom during regular operating hours as well as the weekend. Staff are readily available to assist students in multiple subject areas as well as assist with issues in using online labs and much more.
The Center offers a variety of services for students including virtual tutoring via Zoom, walk-in assistance, online tutoring through SmarThinking, three types of testing including make-up testing, proctored testing for other colleges and universities, and TABE testing. Additionally, the Academic Skills Center offers a TEAS preparation program utilizing online software to help health sciences students prepare for TEAS. Other academic workshops are offered throughout the semester.

In-Person Tutoring: Monday through Thursday, 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m.

- Friday, 8:00 a.m.-2:00 p.m.
- Saturday, 9:00 a.m.-1:00 p.m.
- Sunday, 2:00 p.m.-6:00 p.m.
