Through dedicated advising, timely and relevant support, and valuable incentives, BOOST empowers students to stay on course and transition quickly into the workforce. Whether you're looking to gain new skills, complete your credentials faster, or receive personalized guidance, this program is here to support your journey—every step of the way.

What are the benefits of joining Boost?

  • Reduce or eliminate your tuition costs ($1,400 per academic year)

  • Pay for some or all of your textbooks ($300 per semester)

  • Help with other costs of attending college ($100 monthly incentive)

  • Connect you with tutors and other support services

  • Provide a dedicated Success Coach to keep you on track for graduation

Am I eligible?

 
To receive the benefits of the NCCCS Boost program, students must meet the following requirements:
  • Be a U.S. North Carolina resident eligible for in-state tuition, according to the NC Residency Determination Service (RDS)
  • Have a high school diploma or high school equivalency (not open to dual enrollment students)
  • Receive the Next NC Scholarship
  • Be able to complete college-level math and English requirements within their first academic year
  • Have no more than 24 program-applicable college credits earned or in progress when you are accepted into the NC Boost program
  • Apply for financial aid via FAFSA: studentaid.gov
  • Attempt at least 24 credits per academic year (fall, spring, summer)

  • Air Conditioning, Heating & Refrigeration
  • Applied Engineering Technology
  • Bioprocess Technology
  • Biotechnology
  • Computer-Integrated Machining
  • Criminal Justice Technology
  • Diesel and Heavy Equipment Technology
  • Information Technology
  • Mechanical Engineering Technology
  • Welding Technology
  • Associate in Arts
  • Associate in Arts Teacher Preparation
  • Associate in Engineering
  • Associate in Science
  • Associate in Science Teacher Preparation
  • Health and Fitness Science
