Johnston Community College offers hands-on firefighter training and rescue certification courses to help you build your skills and stay prepared.

Fire Rescue Traditional Academy (In-Service) 

JCC 13th Fire Academy

Day or Night

The Fire Academy offers an intensive program designed to prepare you for a rewarding career in fire service. The Academy is divided into two distinct blocks:

Block 1 – Focuses on certifications in Firefighter, Incident Command System, Traffic Incident Management, and Hazardous Materials.

Block 2 – Concentrates on North Carolina Technical Rescuer and Vehicle Rescuer training.

In-Service Fire Rescue Certification Courses

The NC IFSAC Accredited Fire Rescue Training courses are required for IFSAC Certifications from NC OSFM.

Courses appear on JCC and NC OSFM transcripts, which may take up to 90 days. If delayed, contact the college.

Registration occurs on the first night of class, and attendance is mandatory—missing more than 20%  of any class results in no credit.

Non-affiliated students must provide an affiliation letter on department letterhead, signed by their Chief with a contact number.
