Bird Habitats and Museum

Howell Woods offers educational enrichment through two museum exhibits.

Howell Woods Outdoor Bird Habitat

The outdoor exhibit features five non-releasable native raptors: a Black Vulture, Red-tailed Hawk, Bald Eagle, Barred Owl, and Great-horned Owl, with informative displays.

Howell Woods Indoor Reptilels Exhibit

The indoor museum showcases native reptiles like snakes and turtles, along with hands-on learning at the Nature Nook. Visitors can explore various species and touch educational materials like animal pelts and snake sheds.

Howell Woods Education Area

Beyond the displays is a hands-on area, called the Nature Nook. Here you can read books, color, and discover more about the living and nonliving organisms on the property (ex. Animal pelts, Longleaf pinecones, snake sheds, and more).

The exhibits are only open during during the week or events during staff hour.
